The American Sunday.

Today I visited the American Sunday in Zandvoort. It's all about American cars, old and new ones but mostly old ones. The event is held at the Zandvoort racing circuit so they also organised a quarter mile race for those interested. Visitors were almost exclusively Dutch apart from a few Germans.

Below are some of the best photos I took today. Click them for (much) larger versions.

Please enjoy :-)

Dodge Coronet cop car. I like.

This is one of my favourite cars. I think one day I'll have my own, next to my Mustang. It's a Pontiac Firebird. Love it!

Beautiful Chevy.

There were Mustangs everywhere. You get the late 60's models everywhere. They must've been a solid and popular car to have so many around still.

This car is registered "made in 1965" so it could very well be an original GT 350 instead of a clone.

Ford Torino. I had never seen it before and mistook it for a Javelin but I stand corrected ;-)

Icons.

Dodge, Charger. Looks awesome.

Dodge Charger.

Gorgeous looking Corvette this is.

Wolf in sheep's clothes?

Look! Another 60's Mustang!

This Mustang looks a lot like mine but it's not the same. Actually, I did not see a single Mustang Grande, not from any year. Is my car rare?

This truck was in a magazine I'm subscribed to not long ago. Awesome combination.

Javelin.

Cuda.

Not exactly the best looking Mustang ever produced (i.m.o.) but still cool to see between all these cars.

Cool trucky.

From all the newer muscle cars I have to say that I like the Dodge Charger and Challenger the best. They have stayed so true to the original look of the car. Much more than Ford did with the Mustang.

Aren't Firebird convertibles rare cars nowadays? I had never seen one before...

Old Ford F100 I believe. Great truck. Wouldn't mind driving one of these.

Rat rod. Niiiiice.

Mach 1.

Four German blokes entered the quarter mile competition with their new Mustangs. The silver one actually didn't do too bad.

This was an awesome show. A rocket-car!

The noise was unreal, I had to close my ears, as did the guy you can see standing in the paddock.

In the afternoon the sun came out and I sat on the dunes watching the races which was quite nice. I even got a bit of a tan ;-)

I made a few movies too:

Corvette with fantastic roaring sound...

Here, one of the German guys is driving his new Mustang and while the commentator predicts his loss he is actually beating the other guy by car lengths... Funny :-)

Trucky race.

The guy from Voorend showing how it's done in his Mustang.

And here's 2 of the fast ones. After seeing all the videos you can actually tell they're faster. Awesome.

And a few more photos on my way out:

Another F100.

Mustang II. Quite a nice design I think.

Javelin.

After a long day at the races I sat near the beach a bit, waiting for my train back to Amsterdam. Had a lovely day :-)
